WordPress is a powerful open source (free) website and blogging software that can be downloaded from WordPress.org, to install and run from your own hosting provider. Since reliable hosting providers can be found at a cost of less than $10 per month (for example, my preferred and recommended provider, Hostgator) it’s a pretty economical option for personal or business use. And just like Hostgator, many hosting companies provide simple “menu-driven” installation options to enable you to install your basic WordPress regardless of your technical skill level.

However, some folks just want a free blog and don’t need the additional features or capabilities of a self-hosted WordPress site. Luckily there is a FREE alternative to host a WordPress site from the source, WordPress.com. (note, WordPress.org is for self-hosted WordPress and WordPress.com will allow you to operate a FREE WordPress site from their servers.

This workshop will focus on the FREE WordPress.com sites and teach you how you can get the most from this powerful, yet free system.
